The shoes I am wearing in this photograph were never intended for formal occasions. Brand new, black canvas, low top, size 8 Chuck Taylor All-stars---shoes better suited for a rebel at a rock concert than a junior bride's maid in a wedding. Thankfully, such unconventional shoes were ready replacements for the 3-inch, silver, Steve Madden heels that I had been required to wear during the ceremony.
